Cushion Cover Sizes
Choose the right cushion size based on where you plan to use it. Mix sizes for a designer-layered look.
| Size | Best For | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| 16" x 16" (40 x 40 cm) | Accent on armchairs, small sofas, and dining chairs | Most common size for decorative throws on smaller seating |
| 18" x 18" (45 x 45 cm) | Standard sofa cushions, mix-and-match layering | The most popular all-around cushion size in India |
| 20" x 20" (50 x 50 cm) | Large sofas, floor seating, and bed layering | Great for creating a plush, luxurious look |
| 24" x 24" (60 x 60 cm) | Euro shams for beds, oversized sofa styling, floor cushions | Makes a bold statement; best as a base layer behind smaller cushions |
| 12" x 20" (30 x 50 cm) | Lumbar support, accent on beds and sofas | Rectangular bolster shape adds variety to your cushion arrangement |
Curtain Measurements
The key to great-looking curtains is proper sizing. Always measure your window first, then follow these guidelines.
Standard Window (3-4 ft wide)
Panel Width
Each panel: 4-5 ft wide
Length
7 ft (floor-length) or 5 ft (sill-length)
Rod Placement
4-6 inches above the window frame, 3-6 inches beyond each side
Large Window (5-6 ft wide)
Panel Width
Each panel: 5-6 ft wide
Length
7-8 ft (floor-length recommended)
Rod Placement
6-8 inches above the frame for a grand look
Door/Balcony (3 ft wide, 7 ft tall)
Panel Width
Each panel: 4 ft wide
Length
7.5-8 ft for a slight pool on the floor
Rod Placement
As close to the ceiling as possible
Pro Tip: For a luxurious look, curtain panels should be 1.5 to 2 times the width of your window. Hanging rods closer to the ceiling makes windows appear taller.
Rug Sizes by Room
A correctly sized rug ties the room together. Too small and it looks out of place; too large and it overwhelms the space.
Living Room
The rug should be large enough for at least the front legs of your sofa and chairs to sit on it. Leave 12-18 inches of bare floor around the edges.
Bedroom
Place the rug under the lower two-thirds of the bed, extending at least 18 inches on each side for a soft landing when you wake up.
Dining Room
The rug should extend at least 24 inches beyond the table on all sides so chairs remain on the rug even when pulled out.
Entryway / Hallway
Runners should be about 4-6 inches narrower than the hallway on each side. Use non-slip pads underneath.
Balcony
Choose weather-resistant materials like jute or polypropylene. Size the rug to define a seating area within the balcony.
Vase Heights & Table Proportions
The right vase size depends on where you plan to place it and what you want to put inside.
Small (15-20 cm / 6-8 inches)
Nightstands, shelves, bathroom counters, desk decor
Styling Tip
Group 2-3 small vases at varying heights for a cluster arrangement
Medium (25-35 cm / 10-14 inches)
Coffee tables, dining table centrepieces, console tables
Styling Tip
Works as a solo statement piece with dried flowers or fresh stems
Tall (40-60 cm / 16-24 inches)
Floor placement, large console tables, entryway statement
Styling Tip
Use with long-stemmed dried pampas grass or tall branches
